WHEN IS LATE WORK NOT ACCEPTED
When it is submitted beyond 48 hours after the due date
If it’s a Discussion Board posting
If it’s a Live Session Make-Up assignment
If the assignment is due Monday at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard/Daylight Time, Week 8
If the assignment specifically states in Canvas that late work will not be accepted
LATE WORK PENALTIES
There will be a 25% grade reduction (based on the total number of points available for the assignment, not the student’s score) for each day late, with no assignments being accepted after two days late.
Effectively, this means for an assignment due Saturday at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard/Daylight Time:
- An assignment submitted at 12:00 a.m. Sunday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday –> 25% grade reduction
- An assignment submitted at 12:00 a.m. Monday through 11:59 p.m. Monday –> 50% grade reduction
- No assignments accepted after 12:00 a.m. Tuesday
Week 8 Assignment Rules
Canvas cannot accept assignment submissions past the last day of the term
All coursework is due by the Monday of Week 8
There is NO 48-hour window to turn in assignments past the Monday of Week 8
EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES
Extenuating circumstances are defined as:
- death in the family
- family emergency
- hospitalization
- natural disaster
Students must notify the professor as quickly as is possible
The instructor has the discretion to accept late work based on extenuating circumstances but is not required to do so.
Documentation may be required depending on the type of extenuating circumstance and if an extenuating circumstance causes assignments to be turned in after the final day in the session.
COMPUTER OR INTERNET-RELATED DIFFICULTIES
Each student bears full responsibility for submitting assignments in a timely manner.
Even if students experience computer or internet-related difficulties, these Late Work Penalties apply.
